At the June 24, 2006 ARA State Endorsing Convention, candidate written answers to the ARA Questionnaires were distributed to delegates, and candidates for State and contested Congressional office were invited to speak. Following speeches and verbal follow-up questions, the ARA delegates voted on Republican Primary Election Endorsement.
ARA Endorsement requires a 2/3rds vote. Candidates gaining ARA Endorsement were:
Jan Brewer for Secretary of State;
Randy Graf for Congress in CD8;
Ron Drake for Congress in CD7; and
three uncontested candidates for State office,
Bill Montgomery for State Attorney General;
Dean Martin for State Treasurer; and
Tom Horne for State Superintendent of Public Instruction.
No candidate received 2/3rds of the vote for Governor, or for State Mine Inspector, although Len Munsil received 55% of the vote for Governor.
The PMRA Unit of the ARA held their Republican Primary Election Endorsement vote for legislators in LD11, LD14 and LD15 on July 25, 2006.
ARA Endorsement requires a 2/3rds vote. Candidates gaining PMRA Endorsement were:
Barbara Leff for State Senate; and
John Allen for State Representative.
LD15
Robert Gear for State Representative.
There are no Republican candidates for the legislature in LD14.
