Late January, February, March, April 2007 Summary

January 13th--- As mentioned in our last Newsletter, Sen. John McCain was badly beaten in the MCRC Presidential Straw Poll.  An interesting analysis of the vote, when combining the 1st Choice/Acceptable votes, shows that McCain came in 10th of 12 names listed.  The leaders were as follows:

Romney     321;

Gingrich    318;

Rice         -- 296;

Hunter     -- 263;

Tancredo – 243; …..

McCain   -- 139

January 27th--- PMRA member, Randy Pullen was elected AZ Republican Party State Chairman.  As at the LD11 Election, Senator McCain’s puppet choice was again beaten, but this time by only four votes.  Pullen 408,  Lisa James 404.

January 23rd--- State Rep. Russell Pearce was once more our speaker at our PMRA meeting.  There were 30 members and guests in attendance.

Russell noted that at the January 13th Maricopa County Republican Committee Statutory Meeting, his resolution calling for state laws, to severely punish Employers that knowingly hire illegal aliens, and to end illegal alien sanctuary by counties and municipalities, passed unanimously!!   Current immigration law already prohibits cities from offering sanctuary and 1996 federal immigration law authorizes state and local officials to cooperate with federal immigration officials on processing illegals.  Also, knowingly hiring illegal aliens has been against federal law since the 1986 Amnesty Bill was passed. – Sadly, neither law has been enforced locally.  Hence, the need for state law.

Russell stated that, drawn by jobs, welfare (mainly free health care and education), and the likelihood of Amnesty citizenship, 4-10 million illegals cross into Arizona per year at present.  Nationally, $300-$350 billion in taxes are lost each year due to the underground illegal workforce.  Due to the massive illegal invasion, Arizona is now 1st in crime, 2nd in drug trafficking, and 5th in murder, nationally.

He further commented that, a Hispanic think-tank estimates that 600,000 illegals are living in Arizona (i.e., approximately 10% of the population)!  As a result, carjacking, auto-thief, home invasion and other crimes are rampant.

Nationally, in recent years 9,000 people have been killed by illegals, annually (that’s far more than Americans killed, so far in Iraq and during 9/11 combined)!

Russell has two bills in the legislature to address the two problems sited in his resolution at the Maricopa County Republican meeting.  He is also leading two ballot initiatives to shadow these issues (but tougher) since Gov. Napolitano vetoed 13 illegal alien bills last year, and is likely to repeat that performance this session.

Russell stated that Congress has the right under the 14th Amendment to stop awarding citizenship to babies born of illegals in the USA (so-called “anchor”, or “jackpot” babies).

The 14th Amendment was intended to apply for blacks after slavery was abolished by the Civil War and the 13th Amendment.  The 14th Amendment applies to “All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof…”.   While the blacks of 1868 were subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, those here illegally from another country and their offspring are not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, but rather to the country from which they came!

Moving on to the education issue, Russell stated that when the local newspaper headlines trumpet with alarm that Arizona is 49th in state funding per student, they are using data that does not compare “apples to apples”.  Since “Students First” passed in 2000, Arizona state funding does not include school construction costs, as does other states.  In Arizona, construction costs now come out of local property taxes, only.

If local school construction costs were included in school spending, Arizona would be about 26th in school spending per student.  Arizona is first in school construction costs in the U.S.

According to Russell, Gov. Napolitano is playing her usual games with the budget and spending.  She wants $500 million for road construction right now.  Her plan to get the $500 million is to “refinance” current bonds, which will add huge interest and principle costs that future people in Arizona would have to pay (i.e., “robbing Peter to pay Paul”).  She appears to be planning to use the “refinancing path” to pay for her socialist programs, as well.

While the freeway construction plan may pass, Russell said that Napolitano’s Mandatory All-Day Kindergarten program won’t.

He reminded us, that since 2/3 of the state budget is now mandated by federal law, or by ballot proposition of such socialist laws as “Students First”, “All-Day K”, etc., the budget is NOT under legislative control to the degree it should be.

After Q&A, PMRA members pointed-out that RINO State Senator, Carolyn Allen and Democrat Congressman, Ed Pastor were co-Master of Ceremonies at the Arizona Human Rights Fund (AHRF) annual awards dinner at the Biltmore.  AHRF is the state homosexual lobby that promotes all those pro-“homosexual rights” bills in the state legislature, such as the repeal of the sodomy law.  AHRF was also successful in fighting-off the one-man, one-woman Marriage Amendment at the 2006 election.  Arizona was the only state in which a Marriage Amendment lost. – The Republican Party needs to dump elected officials like Carolyn, if it is to stand for any of its principles!

Pat Buchanan’s book, “State of Emergency” was recommended for reading by the membership.

Russell pointed out that in 2004 Proposition 200 passed despite the opposition of our entire congressional delegation, the Governor and the State Attorney General.

We need to return to our core values if Republicans are to regain lost seats in Congress and the State Legislature!  In particular, LISTENING AND REPRESENTING the people, NOT international finance and corporations!!!

Finally, Gene Reed emphasized the need to send letters, makes calls, etc. to Congress to stop the SPP/NAU North American Union, and to Stop all Illegal Alien Amnesty bills.  There is a bill in Congress (HCR 40, that needs support) calling for a Congressional Investigation to stop all unauthorized funding activity (on the SPP/NAU) that is currently ongoing in the Commerce Department at the direction of President Bush, and without Congressional consultation, or approval!

This activity was authorized only by Bush following a tri-lateral Canada, Mexico, and U.S. initialing of the SPP agreement at Waco, Texas in 2005.

SPP/NAU is a program of the internationalist Council on Foreign Relations (CFR).  The program began as an American Union proposal by Dr. Robert A. Pastor following the passage of NAFTA.  Pastor has worked on the program under the CFR ever since.  Pastor began his career as a member of the communist leaning Institute for Policy Studies (IPS) and co-authored the 1989 book, “Limits to Friendship: The United States and Mexicowith Jorge G. Castañeda, a former member of the Mexican Communist Party and Vincente Fox’s Foreign Minister working to support illegal immigration into the U.S.

This on-going SPP/NAU activity is being conducted in 20 Commerce Department issue groups working jointly with sister groups in Canada and Mexico toward joint security and economic issues. -- These were the same tactics used to create the European Union, where once independent nations have already largely yielded their sovereignty (and ability to make their own law) to the EU.  In Europe, a EU Constitution overriding all member national constitutions will be passed during the next two-years (it nearly passed last year, losing only in two states that put it to a national referendum; pro-EU officials won’t make the referendum allowance mistake next time).

In short, if the current SPP/NAU activity is allowed to continue, our remaining constitutional rights are toast!! – Oh, you remember!  That “g-d” piece of paper referred to by George W. Bush in a cabinet meeting!!

February 27th--- State Senator, Karen Johnson was our guest speaker to an audience of 31 members and guests.

 Karen attended an emergency Phyllis Schlafly Eagle Forum Conference at Washington, DC in January regarding the dangerous behind the scenes Canada, Mexico, and U.S. SPP/NAU implementation now in progress.

At the conference, it was pointed out that if the NAU is implemented, we will lose our sovereignty and our constitution.  We will be like an American Soviet Union, or European Union of countries under a common Parliament and with a new “Constitution”.  The NAU is to be implemented as a five-year plan to build a common perimeter around Canada, the U.S. and Mexico with open internal borders (the reason Bush wants to maintain open borders with Mexico).  Implementation is planned to bypass congressional oversight by using Executive Department Regulations and Executive Orders.  Attendees at the conference were given presentation slides showing the various NAU phases and implementation and training for presenting the case to stop the SPP/NAU process before it is too late.  Karen circulated copies of the slides.

While attending the weeklong conference, Karen visited with Representatives Renzi, Shadegg, Franks and Flake who each claimed that they never heard of the NAU.  [If you believe this, I know of a ranch on the Mexican border I’d like to sell you!!  Strange, how we have to inform our Representatives about what’s going on in Washington, isn’t it! –Ed.]

Karen spoke with each and left each of them with a copy of the conference notebook containing all of the information presented there.  The information included the plans (announced in our major newspapers) for a 1200-foot wide superhighway including freight rail to be built from a new ocean port at Cardenas-Lazaro, Mexico through Texas to Canada with a port of entry at Kansas City without need for customs check.  This, of course, will provide for cheap labor Mexican dockworkers and truckers to supplant Americans, while maintaining easy access for terrorists.

Our Republican Congressmen assured her that they would review the information and get back with her.  She has never heard from one of them on this subject.  [At subsequent meetings with Precinct Committeemen around Arizona, our congressmen still deny knowledge of, or that there even is such a thing as the NAU being talked about!  With Republicans like these, who needs Democrats? – Ed.]

On other subjects, Karen and Sen. Ron Gould introduced a bill for Arizona to opt out of implementing the federal REAL ID design for Arizona Drivers License.  Such a bill has been introduced in more than 40 states so far.  The federal Real ID Bill provides for the Department of Homeland security to design a common driver license format that would be required by all states that do not opt out.  The Bill gives DHS a “blank check” to design-in whatever features it wants.  This can include an RFID chip; a magnetic strip that can contain private information about you including biometrics such as a retinal scan; possibly a GPS chip; and so forth.

Even if the Real ID license design starts out with only simple things, it could be used for more intrusive information and tracking in a very near future Orwellian “Brave New World” (i.e., a police state).

An RFID chip allows remote radio reception of your personal information.  A GPS chip allows you to be tracked with precision wherever you go. – Along with memory containing your personal information (perhaps medical, financial and organizational information) this would be the perfect tool for “1984” fascist police state monitoring and control of every law-abiding American.  Even identity thieves could make use of these tools to get your critical identity information by radio (the RFID chip sends it out).

Currently, the Driver’s License is a State power, NOT a federal power.  If Arizona does not opt out of the Real ID Act, it cedes this State Right to the federal government!!  On more nail in the coffin of the Constitution!

March 27th--- Our guest speakers were Tom Jenny of the Arizona Federation of Taxpayers and State Senator, Ron Gould of Lake Havasu City presenting to 25 members and guests.

The AFT is one of the leading advocates of state property and income tax reductions at the state legislature.  Tom Jenny passed out the latest AFT legislative report card on spending and tax bills.  Ron Gould was rated #1 friend of the taxpayer for the last to years.

Since Napolitano has been governor, we have had a 12% annual increase in the state budget.

Tom points out that the state goes into debt by working around the state constitution’s prohibition against debt. – He considers these dodges as thumbing their noses at the constitution.

Ron is the Senate Transportation Committee Chairman.  He would like to see citizens testify at committee hearings.  Now, only lobbyists testify, including public agency lobbyists.

Ron Gould said that there would be an attempt at getting a “California Proposition 13-like” ballot proposition on the 2008 ballot.  He was working with Lynn Weaver and Jeff Greenspan and others to get an initiative ready.  A competing property tax control initiative is being launched by a Mr. Goldman (?) from the Kingman area.  There could be problems here!

[Since our meeting, it now appears less likely that such a proposition will make the ballot, due to a very slow start and dissention among the ranks of the proponents – Ed.]

April 24th--- Our guest speakers were Steve Lory, candidate for Phoenix Mayor and Jack Watson, candidate for City Council, District  #3 speaking before 25 members and guests.

Steve is a Conservative Republican running against Democrat Mayor Phil Gordon.  He believes Phoenix is spending money way too inefficiently.  He would add police on the street and work to improve government efficiency.

Jack will be running for an open seat in District #3 with about three other opponents.  Jack appears to be very conservative, also.  He too would work to get up to 500 more policemen on the street.

Stacey O’Connell, a candidate for City District #1 and a member of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corp could not be at our meeting, as he had committed to another event.
